A symbol of abundance, sexuality, femininity and maternity, the breast has spanned the history of art and has always fascinated. When I arrived in the 13th arrondissement of Paris in 2007, the area was undergoing a major transformation. Buildings were springing up all over the place, with sharp-edged architecture cutting into the sky. A deluge of concrete took over the visual field. Given this situation, I felt it was necessary to bring a little roundness and softness back into the urban environment.
As the goddess of fertility, Diana had a role to play in irrigating the construction industry with her condensed milk. This work is more a wink, a poetic act than a protest act, an encounter with the city-dweller. A trip to the forest of Meudon to echo the notion of 'Nature' as nurturing mother. A colourful tautology.
