"Soleil noir" is made up of a tire-skin, the same one that served as the matrix for "Coulée de souffle". This curved rubber skin, tanned like leather, reflects its matt light back at us. Under the harshness of the seasons spent outdoors, the material reveals multiple tears where the eye invites itself in. At its centre, this crown contains a curved glass that invites you to plunge into another space-time. The zenithal light that strikes the mirror conjures up a dream-like atmosphere, a form of disquieting strangeness. This is reinforced by the walls of the glass, which alter the perception of bodies and shapes, creating a distance between the viewer and his or her representation. It's an invitation to question what this reflection says about us.
